Daytime Fellowship meets monthly on the third Wednesday of each month at 12:00 noon and enjoys a potluck lunch together and a short program or devotional. On September 18, we will be visited by Judy Arrington, community education person with Arrington Funeral Home and “Gracie”, Arrington’s therapy dog. You can check “Gracie” out on her own facebook page! Please invite a friend to come join the group for lunch. If you work and don’t feel like preparing a potluck dish, just brown-bag it, take a break and come enjoy the program with the group.

On Thursday, September 26, we need volunteers to help prepare food and transport it to RIFA by 5:15 p.m. and also volunteers to help serve and clean up from 5:00 — 7:00 p.m. If you can help out, please sign up at the bulletin board in the hallway near the pastor’s office. Many in our congregation have joined in serving RIFA Meals to those in our community in need of a hot meal. Have you participated yet? Maybe you are still not sure what you can do or how to volunteer, so here are some ways you can help:
-Bring money to the communion rail each communion Sunday. This offering is designated for the soup kitchen meals. It costs around $185 each month to provide the food. If each of us gave just a couple of dollars each month, we could fund this ministry.
-Give an extra offering designated specifically for this ministry. Just mark your envelope for the soup kitchen.
-Help prepare food at the church to be delivered to the soup kitchen. (4:00 – 5:00 on 4th Thursday) Sign up list is on the bulletin board.
-Serve the prepared meals to those who come to the soup kitchen. (5:00 – 7:00 on 4th Thursday at RIFA soup kitchen on Airways Blvd.) Sign up list is on the bulletin board.
-Make or provide cookies or brownies for desserts for the meal. This would save on the cost of the meal. (240 cookies needed each month on 4th Thursday)
-Offer a short devotion before the meal at the soup kitchen on the 4th Thursday evening.
-Above all, pray for those who receive the meals and for our congregation as we serve them.
-NOTE: Jan Matthews, chair of the Missions Team, can answer other questions you have or give you more information.

Plan to join us for our next 5th Sunday Lunch immediately following our worship service on September 29. Our 5th Sunday lunches have two purposes: a time to visit with fellow church members and a way to raise money for mission projects.
This month our mission project is Area Relief Ministries. Area Relief Ministries, or ARM, is a faith-based nonprofit organization that has been around since the 1970s in Jackson, TN. Originally created as a collaboratively-funded nonprofit, churches across the community would give to the organization, which was then tasked with assisting individuals at risk of eviction, utility cut-off, hunger, and homelessness. Over forty years later, much has changed at ARM, but its collaborative nature with local churches as the core has not only remained, but grown even stronger.
Today, ARM operates two different umbrellas of service: Emergency Assistance, which includes case management and follow-up for individuals who have faced a recent emergency and need help getting back on their feet with a one-time assistance voucher to JEA, dental extractions, and certain medications. Homeless & Housing Services facilitate programs from Room in the Inn and Open ARM to transitional housing and work programs including FreshSTART lawn care.
In all of their programs, know that generous support from our community helps fund these services. Their motto is to “Alleviate Suffering, Promote Dignity, and Foster Hope. Watch your upcoming newsletters, bulletins and the website for the meal menu.
