It’s time once again to collect toys for the Reelfoot Rural Ministries Christmas Toy Store. We’ll be collecting new toys during the month of November to deliver to RRM for their annual toy store. Parents, after meeting the guidelines set by RRM, are able to shop the store to select toys for their children for Christmas. The goal is to help 650 families have a merrier Christmas and, through the toy store, let them know that we care. Please consider bringing one or more toys to the church this month. You are asked to leave price tags and/or bar codes on the toys when you bring them. If you would like a list of suggested toys, you will find that at the church or at:
This year we will also take a volunteer group to help with the toy store set up. Our mission day will be Wednesday, December 4. We’ll leave the church at 10:30, travel to Reelfoot, have a quick lunch at the center, then work in the toy store from 12:30 until 3:30. We will help sort and tag toys, stock shelves, and maybe even assemble a few bicycles. We can find a job for anyone who wants to help. You will find the sign up list on the bulletin board by the church office. The maximum number we can take is 15. The deadline to sign up is November 13, so sign up quickly to reserve a spot.

On Sunday afternoon December 1, we are going to have a major event at our church that you won’t want to miss! It’s Project Advent! It is going to be an afternoon of fun for young and old alike. We’ll learn details about the nativity, make a craft, and watch a special presentation created by our very own Ignite Sunday school class. Our families with children will each create a Jesse Tree to help them count down the days until Christmas. We’ll have an Advent devotion and sing a carol or two. Oh, and, of course, we’ll eat! The activities will begin at 2:30 PM in Wesley Hall downstairs and we’ll finish with a soup supper around 5:00. Mark your calendars now!

On Sunday, December 8, at 4:00 p.m. our choir will host a Christmas Carol Sing-Along. We are inviting our neighboring United Methodist churches to join us. Steve Beverly will lead the carols and our choir will add descants and special harmonization while the congregation sings.
We will have a Christmas photo booth in the narthex, so bring your cameras or phones and get a family or friends photo. Following the service, we will have cookies and Michael Duke’s famous spiced cider in the fellowship hall. Please invite your friends and neighbors to this service devoted to the Carols of Christmas.

On Thursday, December 26, we need volunteers to help prepare food and transport it to RIFA by 5:15 p.m. and also volunteers to help serve and clean up from 5:00 — 7:00 p.m. If you can help out, please sign up at the bulletin board in the hallway near the pastor’s office. Many in our congregation have joined in serving RIFA Meals to those in our community in need of a hot meal. Have you participated yet? Maybe you are still not sure what you can do or how to volunteer, so here are some ways you can help:
-Bring money to the communion rail each communion Sunday. This offering is designated for the soup kitchen meals. It costs around $185 each month to provide the food. If each of us gave just a couple of dollars each month, we could fund this ministry.
-Give an extra offering designated specifically for this ministry. Just mark your envelope for the soup kitchen.
-Help prepare food at the church to be delivered to the soup kitchen. (4:00 – 5:00 on 4th Thursday) Sign up list is on the bulletin board.
-Serve the prepared meals to those who come to the soup kitchen. (5:00 – 7:00 on 4th Thursday at RIFA soup kitchen on Airways Blvd.) Sign up list is on the bulletin board.
-Make or provide cookies or brownies for desserts for the meal. This would save on the cost of the meal. (240 cookies needed each month on 4th Thursday)
-Offer a short devotion before the meal at the soup kitchen on the 4th Thursday evening.
-Above all, pray for those who receive the meals and for our congregation as we serve them.
-NOTE: Jan Matthews, chair of the Missions Team, can answer other questions you have or give you more information.

What’s your faith story? We all have one. Perhaps there was a hard time in your life when you definitely felt the hand and care of God upon you. Or maybe there is a special person in your life who has exemplified the love of Christ to you. Perhaps you simply want to tell how you became a Christian. Some may be serious, and some may be funny. Whatever they may be, all accounts are important for sharing and learning as individual and corporate Christians.
Adult ministries would like to invite you to tell your faith story. We hope to have our first presentation at our January Wednesday Night Fellowship. We ask that your story be no longer than 10 minutes. Please help us become more transparent to each other and before God by sharing your faith story. Please contact Becky Buckley if you are interested in sharing your story.
