Aldersgate Methodist Giving Guide
Aldersgate is blessed with generous givers who support the mission and ministry of our church. We give thanks to the Father for each of you!
As you know, we have two historical methods of giving which remain the backbone of our system and will remain so. You may donate via cash/check during regular Sunday worship as well as regular, scheduled giving via electronic transfer arranged through the church office.
This year, we have made a third option available in giving via credit/debit card which offers those that typically don’t use checks or are one-time visitors a way to contribute. The “Servant Keeper” record-keeping system has recently been upgraded and provides additional capability/flexibility to you and our church. This “Giving Guide” is intended to explain the new options you have available with this upgrade. If you are happy with your current methods of giving, you do not have to do anything different. These methods are the zero cost method of giving to Aldersgate and do not incur any processing fees.
What new options do I have?
- If you wish to give via credit/debit card or bank transfer, you may scan the QR code with a mobile device to access the new giving portal.
- At this point, you can choose two options:
- You may give as a guest/give anonymously. If you are a regular contributor and desire this to be part of your giving history, you must use the second option below.
- You may create an account within the portal. This account will record your contribution and credit your giving statement. In this account, you may also review your giving history online and print statements for your records.
Are there any fees involved with this option?
- Any time you use a debit/credit card to pay for a transaction, there is a fee involved. Depending on the merchant, they will add this fee onto your purchase or cover the fee within their cost of business.
- Aldersgate has chosen to provide the contributor with an option:
- When giving, you may select to add the transaction fee to your contribution so that the church gets the full benefit of your giving. Select the checkbox to “Cover the processing fees”.
- If you desire to have the church pay the processing fee, you will uncheck the box next to “Cover the processing fees”.
- An additional option is available which reduces the processing fees. This option routes the contribution directly via your bank account and bypasses the card processor. To use this option, you will change the “Payment Method” and select “Bank transfer” as the method. You will then enter your bank account number and your bank’s routing information.
- The fee schedule is as follows.
- Credit & Debit (Mastercard, Visa, and Discover):0% + $0.50 per transaction
- ACH (Bank Transfer):1% + $0.50 per transaction
- AMEX:5% + $0.50 per transaction
- Chargebacks, Disputes, or ACH Returns:$15 per transaction
Example #1: $100 credit card donation would result in the following fees:
$.50/transaction + 3% of $100. Total fees of $3.50.
Example #2: $100 Bank transfer
$.50 transaction fee + 1% of 100. Total fees of $1.50.
As noted earlier, you may choose to add the processing fee to your donation or deselect the check box in order for the church to cover this fee. Either way, we are blessed by your donation.
If you are currently giving via cash or personal check, or via scheduled bank transfer through the church office, there a no processing fees involved.
- How do I access the on-line giving portal? You may access the giving portal either on the church website or via the QR code below. Once you are in the portal, you can ‘Bookmark” the site or add to your “Favorites” bar on your electronic device.
- What if I am happy with my current giving method?
- Again, you do not have to do anything if you currently give at Sunday Worship or via scheduled bank transfer through the church office. For changes in scheduled contributions, simply contact the office at 731-427-4887.
- If you wish to wish to contribute your current giving method however wish to have the capability to view your contribution records online, you will need to register your account on the portal.
If you have questions, you may reach out to the church office or to Reggie Buckley for clarification.
Thank you again for your commitment to Aldersgate through your prayers, presence, gifts, and service!
