Have you ever felt inadequate when it comes to sharing your faith? Do you sometimes wonder if you’re “qualified” enough to talk about Jesus with others? The truth is, God doesn’t call the equipped—He equips the called.

Why We Hesitate to Share Our Faith
When asked how many of us have shared the gospel with someone who needs to hear about Jesus, few hands typically go up. Why is that? We’ll happily discuss sports, sales, celebrities, and other temporal matters with strangers, but we hesitate when it comes to sharing the most important message of all—the reconciling love of God.
The reason is often simple: we feel woefully inadequate. We think, “I’m not a preacher, theologian, or Bible scholar. I don’t have the right words.” This sense of inadequacy holds us back from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives.
God’s Spirit of Power, Not Fear
Paul reminds Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
This powerful verse reminds us that our confidence doesn’t come from our own abilities. God’s Spirit moving through us will always be enough, even when we feel insufficient. The truth is, God doesn’t call us because we have it all together—He calls us despite the fact that we often can barely figure out where we put things!
As Paul writes in 2 Timothy 1:9, God “saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.”
You Were Called for a Purpose
Your salvation isn’t random or accidental. God has:

Reconciled you – He has brought you back into relationship with Himself
Remade you – He has transformed who you are
Revived you – He has given you new spiritual energy

And all of this was done with purpose. You may not be an apostle or preacher, but make no mistake—you have a specific purpose in God’s kingdom, and He has given you His Spirit to accomplish it.

Can You Make a Mistake Too Big for God?
Do you ever worry that you might say something wrong when sharing your faith? That you might make a theological error so severe that God will reject you?
Paul addresses this fear in 2 Timothy 1:12: “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day.”
Your most monumental mistakes were already known by God before time began. You cannot make a mistake so bad that you cannot be forgiven if you are truly repentant. The only unforgivable sin is the prolonged, deliberate choice to live as if God doesn’t exist or isn’t in charge—and that’s not a mistake, that’s a choice.
Never Be Ashamed of Your Testimony
Sometimes Christians preface their testimonies with apologies: “I know not everybody believes this, but I’m sorry, I’ve just got to share this…”
Never apologize for sharing how God has moved in your life! God is powerful. He changes things. He restores and reconciles people. He remakes and revives people. There is never any reason to be ashamed of any of that.
Live as someone who is alive because of Christ, not as someone who is afraid of losing their life because of their faith in Him.

Life Application
This week, I challenge you to:

Identify one person who needs to hear about Jesus. Pray specifically for an opportunity to share with them.

Start with small acts of kindness that build relationships and trust, so when conversations get deeper, people know they can trust you.

Remember you have a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind—not because of anything you’ve done, but because of what Christ has accomplished.

Never apologize for your testimony. Share confidently what God has done in your life.

Ask yourself these questions:

Who is that one person God has placed on my heart to reach?
What is holding me back from sharing my faith with confidence?
How can I intentionally “plug in” to God’s reviving power through prayer and Scripture this week?
What small step can I take today to be more bold in sharing Christ?

Remember, you are revived with a purpose. You don’t need to have all the answers—you just need to know the One who does.
